new endangered species

the atlantic sturgeon officially received endangered species status this month, preventing any and all harrassment of the big prehistoric fish in the chesapeake bay and else where. noaa recommended the specific sturgeon populations in the new york bight, the chesapeake bay and off the carolinas for preservation status and stricter regulations to ensure it happens will soon be the law. the sturgeon has been a no-fish/catch for the five years i have been living on the bay...i was fortunate to see one chilling in my creek about five feet off of my pier a few years back: they have a very distinctive, prehistoric look.
